Origin of Our Domain Name Luxurious Choices was originally used as a networking and marketing site for the self-employed. In 2005, the site was renewed as a forum for artistic and philosophical exploration. The name "Luxurious Choices" that once referred to an array of commodities now reminds us that true luxury is not found in what we purchase, but in the ability to make choices that impact ourselves, our loved ones, our community, and our world. Katherine Mercurio Gotthardt owns the following domain names for this site: www.luxuriouschoices.com www.luxuriouschoices.net www.luxuriouschoices.org

"The strongest principal of growth lies in human choice." --Mary Ann Evans (a.k.a.George Elliot) Welcome to our site for philosophical and artistic exploration. We welcome submissions of poetry, essays, short fiction and non-fiction, anecdotes, debates, electronic art, and more. Submissions should be e-mailed in .doc, .html or .jpg format and should relate to the themes described below and on the homepage. Submissions are published at the discretion of the site owner and primary editor, Katherine Mercurio Gotthardt. We look for interesting, thoughtful, accessible work that furthers inquiry and discussion of our themes. Form is less important than substance, and contributors need not be experienced writers, but we cannot published unedited or "sloppy" work. Opinions and debates posted on the "Poetry and Polemics" pages and blog reflect those of the authors only. Postings do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the site owner, editors or of other contributors, readers, etc. This is an independent site that does not represent any other group, organization, or individual. Authors and artists will be given credit for submissions and retain all copyrights. However, as a courtesy, we ask that when you re-publish your work, you list www.luxuriouschoices.net as the original online publisher. While we do advertise to a certain extent, at this time, there is no payment or royalty associated with acceptance of a submission. _________________________________________________________________________ Themes of our pages: The power to choose is a luxury we hold when we function as thinking human beings. However, the power to choose is also a responsibility. These pages are dedicated to the exploration of choice-- of values, ideals, beliefs, lifestyles and perception. What will you choose?
I have learned that we have the ability to turn our experiences into productive action, or we can merely allow experiences to "happen" and do nothing with them. When we choose to do nothing, we choose not to learn. We choose to let those experiences go wasted and wither away as just more events in a life that eventually ends. But when we choose to learn and act, then we have created meaning and purpose, and we have created a long-lasting means to a better end for all. It really is our choice. ---Katherine Mercurio Gotthardt
